Say hello and wave goodbye
Published Sunday 6th of June 2010
I know I've been kind of quiet lately. Mostly because I've been been busy enjoying the last part of our trip with with the luuvley Anna and her Mark.
Here's some of the last pictures. I've stolen them from AL's blog so there's a chance you've all ready seen them.
We checked in to a "gourmet" hotel in Cambodia. This is was our view at night. There was something magical about it.

We took some quiet time on Koh Wai. That's Koh Chang there in the background. And that's me getting out of the water:)

We continued to one of the most beutiful places I've seen in Thailand. This is Koh Mak!

One night we found ourselfs caught in a thunder storm. I had no idea that this was something I wanted to experience but it definitely was. Again I feel the need to use the word magical ;)

Sadly our trip is now over and I find myself totally lost in my hometown, Stockholm. Hopefully we won't stay for too long. I'm thinking South America next ;)

Just popping in to say hello:
Hello:)
After spending a week or so in Cambodia we suddenly got very tired. The plan was to visit the temples of Angkor Wat, but we just didn't have it in us. Two more 12 hour busrides without sleep, only to stay a couple of days, didn't sound tempting at all.
So where do lazy and tired Swedes go? Thailand of course! Today we're heading to Koh Chang where we'll probably spend the remaining three weeks of our trip. Just relaxing... aaaah

Vietnamese food
Published Tuesday 27th of April 2010
AL tried the snake curry in Can Tho. Apparently snake tastes like... nothing. Nothing at all.
Neither one of us is hardcore enough to try this local delicaty. That's dog food. I mean, that's a dog that people eat. That's dinner!

The sad country?
Published Monday 26th of April 2010
We've travelled through the south of Vietnam for a couple of weeks now. Someone called this place a sad country, but I don't now. This country has a rough history but I get the feeling that the people are proud rather than sad.
We're on Phu Quoc now where you have your resorts and your package deal if you wan't to. But if you put in very little effort you have the chance to see a lot more than just the picture-perfect beaches. This place is truly beutiful.

HCMC
Published Monday 12th of April 2010
After facing our own mortality during the tsunami warning on the Simillan Islands in Thailand we quickly changed beach life for city life...
This is me on top of the highest mountain on Simillan, thinking I've just escaped death
It wasn't all bad. Simillan is really a tropical paradise with amazing snorkeling, we got to swim with several sea turtles:)
But, as mentioned above, we did change the beach for the city. Not just any city, perhaps the craziest city on the planet: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam!
HCMC is everything a city should be. It's fast, it's fun and it never sleeps... oh, and it's dirt cheap:)

Sorry about the snoozeparty over here...
After all the hassle with switching web hosting provider I'd almost forgotten about this place. Up until recently I've also been forced to study a lot more than I usually do. Stupid, stupid databases! The good news is that after this course I now know 4% of all there is to learn about MySQL. Yaay, lucky me...
Although school takes up a lot of my time it hasn't kept me from traveling:)
Here's a small recap of what I've been up to:
Indonesia
Pulau Weh - beautiful yet complicated
Traveling through Aceh is probably the most uncomfortable I've ever been. The bus smelled of shit and the seats were small and hard. Needless to say I didn't get much sleep during the 12h busride.
But it was all worth it when we finally arrived to this place:
This place has the most amazing snorkeling. It's magical!
Plus, we met loads of nice people:)
Lake Toba - simply beautiful
After a while in Aceh I got sick of covering myself up (Aceh is very religious) so we left for the biggest volcanic lake in the world.
Where everything was strangely peaceful
Here's me and my "brother in law". I just posted this picture because I think we look really badass...
Lake Toba is like medicine for the soul. It has a lot of culture and color but at the same time it's calm and private.
Plus, we got to meet this little guy every day...
Malaysia - again
Kuala Lumpur
We decided to go back to KL for the Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day. We also decided to treat ourself a little luxury.
We checked in at Maya Hotel which is a five star hotel. This was our view from the 14th floor
On Valentine's we had a very nice 5 course dinner and I felt very glamorous;)
After that visit to paradise we went back to the streets of Chinatown for a couple of days
Singapore - "oh, there goes my travel budget"
We were invited to Singapore to visit AL's friend who lives and works there with his girlfriend. Singapore has great shopping which is very bad for me...
Our friendly hosts invited us a fantastic BBQ in their private housing BBQ-area
This is private housing :)
Singapore is perhaps the cleanest country I've ever seen. It's not that strange since the fines are ridiculous
Singapore night life
Since then we've had a short stop on Langkawi (Malaysia), before heading back to Thailand. This is our second time in Thailand which makes it more fun. Most of our time is spent meeting up with old friends...
Gash, this was a long one. See you soon :)

Medan - don't go there
Published Thursday 21st of January 2010
After spending about three weeks in Malaysia we got tired of the ridiculous prices and decided to take the ferry over to Sumatra and it's capital Medan.
The goal was always to end up in Pulau Weh, where we are now, but we were in no hurry and wanted to spend a couple of nights in Medan. MISTAAAAKE!
After six hours in that god awful town we decided that we'd had enough. This after being totally ripped off by both a taxidriver and mcDonalds.(I'm sorry mr. mcDonald but that rat poison was not coca cola.)
We ended up taking the night bus to Banda Aceh where apparently no white people ever set foot. At least it felt like we were the first with all the pointing and staring.
Finally we ended up taking the ferry to Pulau Weh which is paradise!I'll post some pictures shortly

This here is my blog. It has taken me about a year to finish it and I'm mighty proud of my work :)
However there's loads of things that I'm not super pleased with when it comes to the design and I'm already working on a new one.
If you're using Internet Explorer please download Firefox for a better experience.
Right now I'm backpacking through south east asia. After three months in Thailand we have now reached Malaysia.
I'll probably post a lot of pictures from my trip and that is why I wanted a gallery. Check it out and I'll see you soon...
